Last night I went to THE most lovely open-air concert in Delhi.
A piano concert, by candle light, in the gorgeous Sunder Nursery.
I’d seen ads on social media for these concerts by candlelight, and because this one was Queen vs Abba (as in my two ABSOLUTE faves) AND it was in the beautiful setting of Sunder Nursery, there was no question.
I was going.
What I didn’t appreciate until the talented pianist, Joshua Peter told us at the start of the concert, but this was the first ever open-air Candlelight Concert in all India – which makes it super special.
It was a full house. The decor was stunning – hundreds of candles surrounding the piano, like so:

The atmosphere was relaxed, with people humming along, singing along when invited, and everyone happily “stomping” away, when Joshua invited us to do so.
It felt more like a private party than a public concert, if that makes sense. The unstuffy atmosphere, people softly singing, visitors to the beautiful gardens wandering past and stopping to watch for a while, birds chirping – and in the background, the stunning trees and the beautifully illuminated monuments.
Too special.

Here are a few moments from a lovely evening:
I was happy to discover that Delhi certainly knows her Queen!

Delhi also knows her Abba – though most of us just enjoyed this classical rendition of the songs we all know and love so well :
A lovely evening, showcasing everything that’s right about this city – a stunning historical venue, being used to great advantage – a slightly chilly but clear evening, with birds swooping overhead before the sun set.
And great music.
Thank you Joshua Peter – one heck of a talent – and I cannot wait for more such concerts.
By the way – I paid for my own tickets, and no-one at liveyourcity.com/Joshua knows that I blog and write reviews. Never met any of them.
So this is pukka, 100% from the heart.
This was a one-off concert – well, the Queen vs Abba programme at least – but they have regular shows, with different musical themes, so there’s lots of choice. Just check out their programmes online.
After the concert, we went for a wander around the stunning Sunder Nursery.
I’ve been there several times during the day, but never at night.
What a fabulous place this is!

Great to hear that they are worth going to – will look out for one now
