Today, we did what we always love doing in Hong Kong – visiting one of the many beautiful outlying islands. It is such a treat to hop on a ferry, leave behind the dizzying skyscrapers, and head off to explore a new part of one of the most fabulous cities on earth.
After exploring Lamma in sadly less than ideal weather, we were ready for lunch. But mid-week, out of season on a rainy day, our options weren’t great. And then we stumbled upon Tearracotta.
An absolute gem, with a brilliant beach-front location – which was sadly wasted on us because of said wretched rain!! – but it must be absolutely fabulous on warm summer evenings, with its pretty deck overlooking the beach and the wee little harbour.

We were the only customers – again, the fault of the weather and sad for the restaurant – but the food was amazing, the service absolutely top-notch, we were sheltered from the rain, and we had a lovely time there.

Rain-proofed! Looking in from the deck(below):

There’s also indoor seating and a bar and an upstairs function area.

The menu is European and I had THE most delicious salmon carpaccio.
Like so:

Salmon, capers, horse-radish. Too too delish!
Terracotta is definitely to be revisited.
Can’t wait to sit on that pretty deck, with a glass of wine, watching the sunset!
As usual, no-one knew who we were, I didn’t say that I am a blogger and that I write reviews, so this is 100% from the heart. (Sounds better than “100% from the stomach”, right?!)
